Using the possibility for photo-quality prints, we decided to dedicate the TUO ribbon collection’s green year to nature, with designs inspired by the plant kingdom. We have explored every corner of the planet to find great ideas with substance. And here are some of our finest:
Miracle fruit: a tropical plant with green and white streaked leaves. Sheer elegance and exotic charm.

This year we were at My Plant & Garden 2018. For those not in the trade, My Plant & Garden is one of the largest plant and flower fairs in Europe. During this important event, the world of flowers is shown in different ways, with competitions, contests, decorations, parades, style and science, technology and even poetry. It is an event that is growing in importance, year after year. This fourth edition saw more than 650 exhibitors and over 17,000 visitors. The aim of My Plant & Garden is to boost both the industry and the different networking opportunities for those in the trade, making the most of flower and plant growing in all its different forms. Excellence in flowers… could we be anywhere else?

Brizzolari Green&Glam

My Plant & Garden 2018 saw us at the event with our most interesting floral ribbons and tapes: the Green&Glam range developed by Ellen Hidding. Ellen, our creative designer for floral patterns, is responsible for creating this range of ribbons together with Nicoletta, the developer of a concept that mixes the world of greenery with current glam lines. Our floral ribbons have added their beautiful touches to the items, furnishings, and accessories on display, and even to people! During the catwalk shows, the public was able to admire models dressed and … beribboned, thanks to the products from our special line: “Green&Glam love my Plant”.

Created to make everything – and we mean everything – more beautiful

We never get tired of saying that Brizzolari ribbons are so beautiful it’s a shame to limit their use to gift wrapping. Sigep is the most famous international trade fair for gelateria, pastries, bakeries and coffee. This year marked its 40th year and since it is dedicated exclusively to those in the trade, at Brizzolari we decided to go live with our brand new item for the industry: the TUO show curtain. TUO show curtains are ideal for weddings and events in general, from private parties to full-on, massive birthday celebrations; but they are also perfect for business use, from window dressings, to displays, workshops and show rooms. They are easy to transport and can be put up in seconds.

At Sigep we created a stand with three cake corners, where we combined curtains with our items dedicated to food. The three corners were conceived as three settings, recreating three typical situations in which the TUO show curtain can be perfectly incorporated: a birthday, a wedding, and a Christmas celebration. We would like to thank everyone, colleagues and visitors, for all the compliments we received and for the interest in our products. And now, let’s take a closer look at these three corners.

The Brizzolari birthday party corner has a TUO show curtain decorated with colourful giant glazed donuts with sprinkles and chocolate icing. The background is white and the printed colours stand out brightly. The matching table for cakes includes three different styles: unicorn, donuts and animals, combined with three different ribbons to match the cake decorations.

Picking up on the green wedding theme, the curtain has the colours and pattern of a natural, outdoor setting, with lovely descending boughs in different shades of green. The assorted wedding cakes decorated with Brizzolari ribbons are all from a palette of green, but have three absolutely different styles: classic, romantic, and… super elegant.

Red is the theme for this curtain, and the decorations in white mélange have a very particular, industrial stencil style that still manages to maintain a Christmas atmosphere because of the similarity to small chests (sure to be filled with gifts) sent from far away… Reindeer, Christmas trees, festive wishes, snowflakes and Christmas decorations form a stunning background for the marvellous cakes and tasty panettoni. Each of the cakes is decorated with Brizzolari food ribbons, adding a sumptuous elegance to the table.

Green like…

Green is a blended colour, created using yellow and blue in a wealth of different combinations. By increasing the blue, the colour becomes more turquoise, more like the sea, creating cool, fresh shades! By using more yellow, we have the green of wheat ears as they begin to ripen, and of sun-kissed fruit, as it grows in the garden. Green is a colour that can be created in many shades and if we add a dot of black or white, for example, we can create icy tones such as sage, artichoke or eucalyptus, and deep tones such as woodland greens and holly leaves.
Green is also a symbolic colour: green like hope, our hope that together, we will enjoy a 2018 that is filled with surprises, happiness and satisfaction.

Merry Christmas with berries: a bright white background with sprigs of berries, bright needles and green leaves. The wording “Merry Christmas” has been added in red, with a precious swirling font in perfect Christmas style. The ribbon here has been used on plain white paper for an eye-catching and at the same time, elegant result.
Merry Christmas wording: an effect with an elegant, vintage feel! The ribbon is printed in block capitals in lots of different fonts to create a decidedly decorative result, as if they were test prints from an old printing press. The background is printed to look like hessian and the whole look is completed with Kraft paper in dove grey for an impeccably stylish result.
Best wishes (come and look how good!): a special fabric ribbon with a rich pattern. The coloured background has a wealth of Christmas decorations and the gift tags, in card or label form, have the best wishes printed on them. Use them with classic light brown Kraft paper or in matching paper for an elegant, elaborate effect.
Sweet Xmas / Sweet Christmas: the two phrases, written in classic and modern mode, are alternated in cursive and print forms but always in bright red on an ultra-white background. This way of wrapping Christmas gifts is an easy yet really effective idea. Of course, once you have seen the wrapping technique, you can use it in a wealth of different variations to suit your taste, coordinating wrapping paper and ribbons of your choice. We have chosen a Kraft paper, one of the simplest, most stylish and natural-looking types of paper, which is just perfect for being completed with a natural-coloured string, and finished with red rope to give that absolutely festive touch. This particular brown paper is decorated with Christmas wishes and its print in negative form, seen from the back, creates an interesting effect using the reverse side of the paper. So why did we choose this paper? Our theme for Christmas 2017 is nature, woodlands and simple, colourful materials that remind us of woods and forests. That paves the way for us to use every shade of green and also brown (like pine cones, bark and chestnuts) and red, like the last beech leaves, holly berries and Christmas poinsettias. And of course, traditionally, Christmas is always about red!

1, 2, 3: stop motion!

Stop motion is one of our favourite ways to create tutorials. They get straight to the point and in just a few simple steps, they show the few moves needed to wrap any type of gift, from a simple package to more complex ones. For a Christmas gift with tree outline in string, start with the paper: wrap the gift in the brown Kraft paper of your choice and instead of folding it over in the traditional manner, close it with a large outward fold to create an interesting effect between the printed front of the paper and the plain brown reverse. After wrapping the gift in the paper, begin by winding natural-coloured string around the package but instead of overlapping it, move the string each time, alternating direction – left and right. To help you, block the string in place with a little tape on the back, so as to secure the tree shape with every passage. You will soon see that the string loops created by moving the string to the left and right will cross over one another at a certain point and this will be the tip of your string tree. Tie this with red string to create a star, just like on a real Christmas tree. And here you have the perfect Christmas gift, wrapped with a traditional symbol, and adorned with a stylised red star on the top!

3 tutorials for 3 ideas with Brizz washi tapes

Some advice to get started. The gift wrapping paper should be a solid colour sheet, or one with a geometric and simple decoration, such as a polka-dot pattern. With this simple trick, you will be able to highlight the decorations made with Brizz ribbon. Choose the ideal colour paper and then have fun combining the washi tapes that best match up. For an even more cheerful effect, keep a good stock of many different ribbons and try the various combinations!

Tutorial # 1: Birthday Cake

After you have wrapped the packet with the gift paper you chose, select 3 ribbons with 3 different patterns and cut out 3 pieces of different lengths. The widest one is for the base of the cake and you gradually move upwards applying them to the smaller cake tiers. Then use a black or coloured marker to draw the cake stand, the laces of the various tiers, and the lit candles on the highest part!

Tutorial # 2: Candles

Wrap your gift with a white polka-dot on pastel-coloured paper: it’s not a solid colour paper but it still gives a great deal of homogeneity to the background.
